Dispelling rumours

Personally, I’m a TextMate kind of a guy.

Aye, I’m not impressed with Coda — Seems a little too close to Dreamweaver to me.

    TextMate rocks.

Coda is pretty, but not worth $79.

Seems pretty good for mark up, but I’d rather just use TextMate for programming && markup.

Just give me autotest + TextMate, =].

Coda is an elegant HTML/CSS (and nothing like Dreamweaver) app, but it won’t ever be as good an environment for programming as TextMate, and probably vice versa. Different tasks, different tools.

That said, I still tried Rails in Coda. I thought I could run split windows and have the editor and terminal both in one frame. Nice idea but Coda doesn’t always pick up new files after running generate. Yes, I tried Reload.

I contacted Panic about this and they were quick to respond. They know of the problem and are working on it. Still, Coda never will be a TextMate, as Panic wants to keep the feature set lean.
